Through ecosystem restoration and large-scale sustainable reforestation management, Viridis Terra works to conserve and revitalize soils through forest restoration and agroforestry systems. Viridis Terra contributes to creating a better future for present and future generations in collaboration with stakeholders and interested parties.
“Only One Earth” was the slogan for the first United Nations Conference on the Human Environment, held in Stockholm in 1972. A date that put sustainable development on the global agenda and led to the establishment of World Environment Day. Fifty years later, Sweden hosts Stockholm+50 from 2 to 3 June and World Environment Day on 5 June.

This cycle begins with a presentation by Benoît Limoges, a specialist in biodiversity and ecosystem services and our director of the Integrated Forest Landscape Restoration (IFLR) model of Viridis Terra. He will tell us about the Compensation of wet environments by terrestrial environments producing ecological services valued by CRIS, and innovative compensation measures.

Last week, Lucie Amiet, a third-year French student of tropical agronomy engineering at ISTOM (École Supérieure d'agro-développement international) arrived. She will carry out a comparative study in the Peruvian Amazon region of Ucayali.
"I was very interested in Viridis Terra's actions in Canada and Peru (...) A few years ago, I worked in Ecuador for a few months and fell in love with the jungle. After that experience, I wanted to return to Latin America to work in the Amazon. I want to work for the ecological management of rainforests. I love the topic of forest restoration and conservation."
The five-month internship proposal is based on joint planning between Lucie and Viridis Terra. It is a comparative study between the agroforestry system associated with timber and non-timber species and the conventional approach to oil palm monoculture in Ucayali.
