Qualicum Beach Fire Rescue
We are a composite department with a team of over 30 firefighters who provide fire prevention, suppression, and rescue services to the residents of the Town of Qualicum Beach and the Qualicum Beach Fire Protection Area. We strive to create a safe community through the services of public education, fire prevention and inspections, and emergency planning.

Heading out camping this summer? Make these simple rules top of mind:
☑️ Follow all fire bans and local restrictions
☑️ Keep campfires small — no larger than 0.5 metres wide and high
☑️ Have water (at least 8L) or a shovel nearby to put it out
☑️ Clear a one-metre firebreak down to the dirt, free of debris
☑️ Never leave your campfire unattended
☑️ Fully extinguish your fire — make sure the ashes are cool to the touch before you leave
Be responsible with fire — or consider skipping campfires altogether. Let’s reduce wildfire risk together.

Emergencies can happen fast. If you ever need to leave at a moment’s notice, especially during floods or wildfires, do you know what you need to pack or do?
Grab-and-go bags are essential. Find out what goes in one (and how it differs from an emergency kit): preparedbc.ca/grab-and-go
And during wildfire season, don’t forget to FireSmart your home. Download the last-minute checklist to help protect your property from FireSmart BC:

Planning to tackle weeds around your property? While there are plenty of safe and effective ways to manage weeds in driveways, landscaping, and around hedges, using a propane torch is not one of them.
Flame weeding is a high-risk activity year-round. Even if the fire appears out, intense heat can ignite hidden roots or leave smouldering spots that can flare up later. There have been unfortunate fires in the province that have resulted from this.
Help protect your home and your community by choosing safer weed-control options.

Roofs and gutters filled with dry leaves, pine needles, and small branches can increase your home’s wildfire risk. Clearing this debris helps reduce the chance of embers igniting your property.
Take a few minutes to remove combustible materials from your roof and gutters—it’s a simple step that makes a big difference.
