I have spent so many years building a career, going down this path of leadership. And one of the biggest challenges I see is too often, FAR too often, people think they don’t belong at the table. Or maybe they think their voice isn’t needed. And they think someone else will be better fit to be that voice.
But that’s not often the case. Leadership means so many things. It’s so much more. I promise you there is space for you- if you keep looking for it.

Skanii Athletics clothing is a brand built on love, growth and perseverance. It was created to remind people of their strength, voice and space-finding ways to amplify the voices of young people as our leaders of tomorrow. Skanii athletics recognizes when we feel strong in the gym, on the field or the court, we feel strong in all other parts of our lives. We are so proud to announce Kadence Pottinger as the 2026 Skanii Athletics award recipient!

Kadence is an outstanding athlete and leader in her community, on the basketball court and the soccer field. Kadence is deeply committed to giving back to her community. She volunteers shovelling snow and chopping wood for elders as well as helping to coach her younger brother’s basketball team. Kadence plans to study social work right after graduation and continue to grow as a leader and helper in her community.
Kadence’s leadership is illustrated in the powerful words she shares: “…Working towards becoming that someone my community can rely on. I want to take everything I’ve learned and give by supporting others and making a positive difference.”
