At the start of July, Prince George RCMP's Problem Oriented Policing (POP) team joined forces with multiple retailers to run a series of very successful Boost and Bust projects throughout Prince George.
Police officers partnered with retailers in Pine Centre Mall, Parkwood Mall, Walmart and Superstore to target ongoing commercial crimes affecting these stores. In total, the POP team arrested 40 people and recovered over $3400 worth of product.
“The goal of the Boost and Bust projects is to assist retail outlets in Prince George that are feeling the effects of repeated theft by targeting shoplifters, with the assistance of the Loss Prevention Officers already working in these locations,” states Cpl. Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
While working on this project, the POP team continued its proactive work within the community, conducting several traffic stops that resulted in further police action. Through these traffic stops, investigators seized approximately 180 grams of illicit narcotics, suspected to be fentanyl, co***ne and methamphetamine, and aided in the recovery of an additional $5000 in stolen property.
In 2026, Boost and Bust projects undertaken by the POP team resulted in approximately 60 arrests and the recovery of more than $5000 worth of merchandise. In some instances, where people have been arrested in more than one Boost and Bust project, this information is included in the Report to Crown Counsel for consideration during the charge approval process.

Prince George RCMP continues to maintain its tough stance on unlawful weapons possession in the wake of recent gun related violence.
On June 24, 2026, a frontline police officer with Prince George RCMP was on routine patrol when he witnessed a man riding a bicycle without a helmet. During the course of the ensuing traffic stop and investigation, the police located a firearm. The police seized the firearm and arrested the man, who was identified by police as 39-year-old Kyle Teegee.
Mr. Teegee was criminally charged as a result of allegedly being found in possession of the firearm. Mr. Teegee will remain in custody until his next court appearance.
“Community safety is a top priority for Prince George RCMP. We remain focused on addressing unlawful weapons possession and other activities that pose a risk to the public. We will continue to use all available investigative tools and resources to enhance community safety and support the health and well-being of those who live, work, and visit Prince George,” says Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
As this matter is now before the court, Prince George RCMP will not be releasing any additional information or commenting further at this time.

Mounties in Prince George are praising the quick thinking of two youth last week, as their actions have proved pivotal in the progress of an investigation into an indecent act.
On Friday, June 19, 2026, just before 2:00 p.m., Prince George RCMP received a report of an incident that involved two youth and a third party. The youth, who were unharmed but shaken up, immediately called 911 to report the incident; the youth then provided police officers with a very detailed description of the suspect and his last known direction of travel. With these details, combined with the quick call to 911, police officers located a suspect just a short distance from where the incident occurred, where he was placed under arrest.
“Investigators are highlighting this incident as it is a great example of how quick, detailed reporting can influence the direction of a police investigation. While we understand there will be instances when immediate reporting is not an option for victims or witnesses, the closer to an event occurring that it is reported, can impact the chances of a suspect being caught or of preserving evidence,” states Corporal Jennifer Cooper, Media Relations Officer for the Prince George RCMP.
The suspect in this matter was later released on an undertaking with conditions. The victims are working closely with the Prince George RCMP Victim Services Unit.
