We are a small village situated on Lake Huron and share an international border with Port Huron, Michigan. On Saturday June 20, 2026 at approximately 8:00 pm, Point Edward Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a Water Rescue in the St. Clair River.
Point Edward Fire & Rescue Marine Unit was dispatched to assist the Joint Rescue Coordination Centre (JRCC) for an abandoned inflatable located on the Canadian shoreline of the St. Clair River near Imperial Oil. Our marine unit worked with Sarnia Fire Rescue to conduct a search of the river. No one was located requiring assistance in the area and the search was suspended.
At the conclusion of the search, the owner of the inflatable was not located and it is unknown who it belongs to. It is important to put your contact information on inflatables or any kind of watercraft in the event it is located unattended. If anyone knows the owner of this inflatable you are asked to contact the nearest coast guard station.
