In January 2024, Council voted to install six pickleball courts alongside Marsh Creek in Delhi Park, Picton. The site is a sensitive floodplain landscape, a beautiful green space with mature tree canopies, and a high-priority area for study under the County’s Cultural Heritage Master Plan.
The location was selected without community consultation or transparency on the selection criteria for this particular site. We want to understand why the Picton Fairgrounds—an established recreation hub, with ample parking, washrooms, potable water and electricity - is not being considered. The Picton Fairgrounds Heritage Master Plan (2021) recommends sports like pickleball and tennis as recreation that aligns with the historic site.
Friends of Delhi Park💚 is gathering signatures for ‘NO PICKLEBALL in DELHI PARK’. We already have over 200 names on our petition! If you agree now is the time to Have Your Say!
What you can do:
💚 Add your name to the petition to keep this unique and historic creek valley and 31-acre public greenspace peaceful, protected and natural. We will present these names to Council.
💚 Find me this Sunday July 12, from 12-2 pm Picton Town Hall Farmers’ Market to sign the petition and learn how you can support our efforts.
Thx for spreading the word. DM if you’d like a PDF of the petition to gather signatures in your neighbourhood. We greatly appreciate the help.
💚 Come out to the park on Monday July 20 | 4:30-6pm for on-site Public Information Centre (PIC) hosted by the County across from Picton Community Gardens. This is a valuable opportunity to raise any concerns you have about the location. See 🔗 in bio for details and how to share concerns if you can’t attend.

Thank you all for coming up as we gear up for Fall elections in the County. Hosted by Barb Mason and Friends of Delhi Park💚 it was good Meet and Greet with MargetsonforMayor.. learning the layered unique history of this floodplain landscape turned landfill turned public park.
How do we balance the protection of this peaceful valley that includes this unique greenspace and two cemeteries with the proposal for six pickleball courts? The conversation continues and the work to petition against pickleball in Delhi Park has started.
We checked in on the community tree planting along Marsh Creek. Thank you Greenman Tree Service for teaching us about the trees and how to measure the DBH of the majestic Poplars growing around the old baseball diamond. 90cm DBH 🌳✨
🗣️Snappers are laying their eggs and moving from@the creek to their nests. Pls drive slowly through this sensitive breeding area🐢🐢🐢.

Sketching concepts for a new project… artistically manipulating the land to create new experiences that work with, rather than against, existing drainage patterns✨
Every contour, every spot elevation shapes how people move, how water moves, and how the landscape will function over time. In collaboration with the project team, grading is design. Good grading = technical know-how + site design + ecological sensitivity 👌🌳💧📐🤔
