🌿 What Are Those? 🍒
Today's mystery: Those little bumps on the leaf stems of your cherry tree.
They're called extra-floral nectaries.
These tiny glands produce nectar outside of the flowers. Their job isn't pollination. Instead, they attract beneficial insects like ants, ladybugs, and parasitic wasps that help protect the tree from pests.
Think of it as your cherry tree's built-in security system. It offers a sweet snack in exchange for protection.
