Stonehouse Lake

le Albert approached my grandparents (Mom's folks) and asked if they would lend him the money he needed to buy the property. They said no, but they would buy it and when he could, he could buy it back from them, which he never did. Other interesting tidbits: When my mother was a child and they came to the Lake:
-Highway 69 was a gravel road for most of the journey;
-they had to leave the car at a landing on BLACKSTONE Lake and ROW through both Blackstone and Crane Lakes. Mom used to say that they had to be good packers....there was no "running up to town" if they forgot something.
-they ate well, as my grandparents and uncles were fantastic fisher people....although I'm sure they supplemented with a lot of canned and preserved food to get them through.
