Happy Earth Day! 🌍

Participating in the Ottawa Riverkeeper River Cleanup is an annual tradition at CSV Architects. It aligns with our commitment to sustainable, environmentally responsible design, and we’re proud to help protect the natural spaces that make our community thrive.

This year, CSV’s team, along with other dedicated volunteers, helped remove 90 pounds of garbage from Andrew Haydon Park!

Thank you to Alex Callisto from the Mohawk Group for organizing this with CSV, and to Ottawa Riverkeeper and everyone who continues to support a cleaner, healthier environment.

Today is , and we’re reflecting on how we’ve embraced this year’s theme: Design for Strength.

To design for strength is to design for the future: creating spaces that can adapt, rebuild, and stand the test of time. It’s about resilience, durability, and care — building environments that protect and support the people and places around them. Strength in design doesn’t just mean lasting longer, it means leaving a lasting impact.

These featured projects reflect that vision, representing how we design projects that endure, adapt, and inspire:
- Forest Explorer's Outdoor Early Learning Centre
- OCH Carlington Hub
- MHI Veteran's House Ottawa
- Rideau Canal Skateway Chalets

When the Deep River District Hospital and Family Health Team set out to expand their primary care building, their goal was clear: create a space that could better serve the 3,600 patients who rely on them every day.

CSV Architects was engaged to collaborate with the Family Health Team, drawing insight from their daily routines and the diverse services they offer. Together, we shaped a 9,800 sq. ft. single-floor expansion that not only connects directly with key hospital facilities, but also feels bright, welcoming, and supportive of both patients and providers.

The result is a space designed to enhance the patient experience while giving care teams the environment they need to continue delivering vital community care.

Thank you to the project team, Family Health Team and Deep River District Hospital for the opportunity to help bring this vision to life!

On this National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we pause to honour the Survivors of residential schools, the children who never returned home, and the ongoing impact on First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples in Canada.

In Ottawa, Indigenous peoples represent approximately 35% of the homeless population, while making up only 5% of the total population. Indigenous homelessness extends beyond the lack of shelter — it reflects a loss of connection to land, culture, community, and spirituality.

At CSV, we are committed to designing with care and respect for these realities. We are grateful to work alongside organizations such as Shepherds of Good Hope, John Howard Society of Ottawa, Cornerstone Housing for Women and more to create supportive and affordable housing, as well as cultural spaces, that foster safety, dignity, and reconnection.
