First Mauritanian Earns Diploma in Immigration Case Management

Ottawa, Canada – I am honoured to be the first Mauritanian to earn a diploma in Immigration Case Management from Herzing College's Department of Professional Legal Studies. This achievement is significant as the college celebrates its 59th year of excellence in the nation's capital.

My internship with GHD Immigration reinforced my dedication to cultural leadership and public diplomacy, allowing me to proudly represent Mauritania, no matter where life takes me. This diploma is a testament to my personal growth and commitment to serving the global community.

President Ghazouani Attends Korea-Africa Summit

President Mohamed Ould Ghazouani of Mauritania recently attended the Korea-Africa Summit in Seoul, marking his first visit to South Korea. The summit, co-hosted by Mauritania as the current chair of the African Union, aimed to strengthen ties between South Korea and African nations.

South Korean media covered Ghazouani's participation in the summit, highlighting his remarks on the confidence African leaders have in their relations with South Korea. Ghazouani stated, "I believe that the very reason African nations are attending this summit is because African countries are expressing their steadfast trust and gratitude towards South Korea."

The summit drew a significant number of African heads of state and government, including the presidents of Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, Ghana, Equatorial Guinea, Togo, Mozambique, Ivory Coast, Zimbabwe, Botswana, Sierra Leone, Liberia, Guinea Bissau, Central African Republic, Eritrea, Madagascar, Seychelles, and Mauritius, as well as the prime ministers of Ethiopia and Lesotho. The high-level attendance was seen as a testament to the growing importance of Africa-South Korea relations.

South Korean media noted that the country has borrowed Kenya's national motto, "Harambee" (meaning "let us all pull together"), in its efforts to seek stronger ties with Africa. However, they also acknowledged that many of the challenges facing African nations, such as disease, poverty, and illiteracy, persist despite decades of development efforts.

تُشِيرُ آخِرُ التَطَوُّراتِ فِي سِياسَةِ الهِجْرَةِ الكَنَدِيَّةِ إِلَى تَحَوُّلٍ كَبِيرٍ نَحْوَ إِعْطاءِ الأَوْلَوِيَّةِ لِلمُرَشَّحِينَ المُقِيمِينَ بِالفِعْلِ فِي كَنَدا. يَأْتِي هٰذا التَغْيِيرُ وَسَطَ الجُهُودِ التَشْرِيعِيَّةِ المُسْتَمِرَّةِ لِمُعالَجَةِ قَضايا المُواطَنَةِ القَدِيمَةِ.

في بيان صدر مؤخرا، أعلن وزير الهجرة مارك ميلر عن محور استراتيجي نحو تفضيل المرشحين المحليين في سحوبات الهجرة الكندية. من المتوقع أن تعزز هذه الخطوة اختيار المرشحين المقيمين الدائمين الذين تم دمجهم بالفعل في المجتمع الكندي من خلال تصاريح العمل أو الدراسة. غالبا ما يظهر هؤلاء المرشحون نتائج أفضل للهجرة، حيث إن خبرتهم السابقة في كندا تعدهم للتسوية الناجحة والمساهمة في الاقتصاد.
