CUPE representatives are on the ground in Edmonton, Alberta, this week for the Federation of Canadian Municipalities’ Annual Conference, where discussions on the plenary stage focused heavily on the vital need for federal-municipal collaboration to support communities.

“Let’s think of the softwood lumber workers, the automobile workers, who are facing the headwinds of Trump’s trade war,” said Minister responsible for Canada-U.S. Trade Dominic LeBlanc. “We aren’t going to trade away things that are important to Canada for a seat in another room.”


De passage à Edmonton, en Alberta, pour le congrès annuel de la Fédération canadienne des municipalités, les représentants du SCFP ont assisté aux discussions sur la scène principale, alors que les échanges ont mis en lumière l’importance cruciale de la collaboration fédérale-municipale pour soutenir nos collectivités.

« Pensons aux travailleuses et travailleurs du bois d’œuvre et de l’automobile, qui écopent de la guerre commerciale de Trump », souligne le ministre responsable du Commerce Canada–États-Unis, Dominic LeBlanc. « Nous ne sacrifierons pas les intérêts du Canada pour une simple place à la table de négociation. »
