Before National Indigenous History Month comes to a close, we want to honour Indigenous women who stepped into Canadian politics; at every level, for their own reasons. Because it really matters.
These past and present leaders are powerfully changing what's possible for every woman and two-spirit person in this country. We've featured a few, but we celebrate the many leading their communities from coast to coast to coast.

Representation matters. When women and gender-diverse people are present at decision-making tables, our democracies are better equipped to address the challenges and opportunities facing our communities.
