This fundraiser was a tremendous success, with all proceeds totaling a whopping $46k, which went directly to the Bruyere Hospital Brain Research Program. The Racket is a band that plays a variety of classic hits from some of the most iconic artists in music history. Meet The RACKET:
Paul Turenne on (powerful) vocals, has been singing in original and cover bands for over 30 years in Ottawa and beyond. He recently sang the part of Judas in a production of Jesus Christ Superstar and has had many appearances at the NAC Opera with regional theatre companies performing such musicals as Godspell. Paul has worked on dozens of original and compilation recordings including Gleneagle, Lexy Jones, Goats Head Soup, Max40 and the Occasional Angels. Yvan Tessier on keyboards, was the musical director and lead keyboards for the production of Jesus Christ Superstar 50th Anniversary concert. Yvan has performed in such prestigious venues as the National Arts Centre, The Ga***rd Opryland in Nashville as well as the JW Marriot in Orlando. Yvan has recorded with various bands including FIST and THE HUNT for both A&M Records and Daffodil Records. Yvan has played in various Ottawa bands including Milton Stash, Tokyo Rose, The Northern Knights, The Moondogs, The Alex Ryder Band, The Arlene Quinn Band and One Night Stand as well as being the Organist for the Ottawa Senators Hockey Team 2005-2007. Yvan has opened for many bands over the years including Motorhead, Krokus, Honeymoon Suite, David Wilcox, Kim Mitchell, Lou Gramm (Foreigner), and April Wine among others. Ron Gilfillan on lead guitar, Ron has been in many diverse bands since the mid 80's. In Ottawa, mostly with the Fenton Brothers Band. Then in Toronto for about 10 years where things got interesting. Ron has played many venues in the Ottawa area including Barrymore's, The NAC, Landsdowne Park as well as countless bars. Toronto clubs include, The El Mocambo, Rock and Roll Heaven Gasworks, Nags Head, The Rivoli, Cameron House, The Horseshoe Tavern, Lee's Palace and Sneaky Dee's. Ron's numerous bands have shared the stage with acts such as Nazareth, Sweet, Huey Lewis, Johnny Winter, John Mayall, Rory Gallagher and George Thorogood. Rod Delcourt on bass guitar, played bass in the production of Jesus Christ Superstar 50th Anniversary concert. Rod, is a local musician who has played throughout the Ottawa Valley with such bands as Raider, Hillbilly Rose, Doug and Shirley McLean, Arlene Quinn, Hickory Wind, Jookbox, and Stream. Rod currently plays bass for The Racket, Buckledown and is one half of the singing/song-writing duo Wilson-Delcourt. Earl Zwicker on drums, played drums in the production of Jesus Christ Superstar 50th Anniversary concert. Earl, being from Ottawa has had many opportunities to play in the local music industry throughout the valley. Currently, Earl is the drummer for The Racket and also the drummer for the band's Hemi, Brother Crowe and The Time Beings. Bookings:
