MiningWatch Canada
MiningWatch Canada is a pan-Canadian initiative supported by environmental, social justice, Aboriginal and labour organisations from across the country. It addresses the urgent need for a co-ordinated public interest response to the threats to public health, water and air quality, fish and wildlife habitat and community interests posed by irresponsible mineral policies and practices in Canada and around the world.

The BC government has now granted that same corporation over 30 mineral exploration permits in the Tranquil Creek watershed — in Tla-o-qui-aht territory — after two years of consultation in which Tla-o-qui-aht explicitly said mining is not a permissible activity here.

Write to your MLA and the Ministers of Energy and Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation to demand these permits be rescinded. A letter template is ready for you.
