Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) is a growing threat to global health, and Africa is especially vulnerable. At ZeroX Intelligence, we’re developing Medikal AI, a smart, multilingual healthcare system that supports diagnosis, improves medication adherence, and sends automated reminders to ensure patients follow through with treatment. This innovation has the power to reduce the impact of AMR by helping doctors make better-informed decisions and empowering patients to stay on track.
As the Global AI Summit on Africa unfolds hosted , it’s clear: this is more than a conference. It’s a wake-up call for Africa to lead in solving African problems with African-built AI. Tackling AMR requires urgent collaboration, investment, and a shared vision. Medikal is one piece of the puzzle, but we need collective action to build a healthier, smarter continent.

ZeroX Intelligence is proud to introduce Medikal 2.0. Our AI-driven healthcare platform, first deployed in Rwanda, enhances diagnosis, medication adherence, and fights Antimicrobial Resistance. Integrated into medical systems, it empowers doctors with data-driven treatment recommendations.
Medikal 2.0 is designed to enhance medical diagnosis, medication adherence, and patient care in Africa, with a strong focus on tackling Antimicrobial Resistance. This version integrates seamlessly into existing medical software used in Rwanda and other African regions, acting as an intelligent layer for data-driven decision-making in healthcare facilities.
When a patient arrives at a medical facility, the receptionist determines whether it is their first visit. If so, they are registered in the system from the ground up. For returning patients, the receptionist enters a unique identifier, such as a Mutual Assistance Number and name, allowing the system to retrieve their last three medical history records in PDF format.
Once the doctor assesses the patient, they record the current symptoms and condition. Medikal 2.0 processes both the new symptoms and the patient’s past medical history, analyzing the data to generate AI-driven recommendations for appropriate medications and treatment plans. These recommendations support doctors in making more informed and accurate prescriptions while helping mitigate antimicrobial resistance.
After the consultation, the system securely stores the patient’s visit details, ensuring that future medical history is readily available for subsequent visits. This structured approach improves the efficiency of healthcare providers, optimizes patient care, and strengthens medical research by providing structured and analyzable health data.
