When I started resin art, I messed up ratios, trapped bubbles, and had sticky disasters—now, I share my lessons to help you!

Part 1.
Sticky or Soft Resin – What Went Wrong?

If your resin feels sticky, soft, or rubbery even after the curing time has passed, it likely means the chemical reaction didn’t complete properly. Here’s why this happens and how to fix it:

✅ Incorrect Resin-to-Hardener Ratio
~ Most epoxy resins require a precise 1:1 or 2:1 ratio (check your brand’s instructions).
~ Measuring by volume, not weight (unless the instructions say otherwise) is crucial!
~ Fix: Always use separate measuring cups for resin and hardener, then combine them precisely.

✅ Not Mixing Thoroughly
~ If resin and hardener aren’t fully combined, some areas won’t cure properly.
~ Fix: Stir for 2-3 minutes, scraping the sides and bottom of the cup to ensure even mixing.

✅ Too Cold or Humid Environment
~ Resin needs a temperature of 70-75°F (21-24°C) to cure properly.
~ Fix: Work in a warm, dry space and pre-warm your resin bottles in warm water before mixing.

✅ Expired or Low-Quality Resin
~ Old or poor-quality resin may not cure correctly.
~ Fix: Always check the expiration date and store resin in a cool, dry place.

How to Fix Sticky Resin?
~ If it’s slightly sticky: Apply a thin new resin layer over it.
~ If it’s very sticky: Scrape it off and start over—unfortunately, sticky resin won’t fully cure.

Did this happen to you? If so, what part of the process do you think went wrong?
