Although many people associate Spanish Harlem with Ben E. King, the song was actually written by the legendary team of Jerry Leiber and Phil Spector. The recording also featured celebrated New York session musicians and was one of Phil Spector's earliest productions—years before he became famous for developing his iconic "Wall of Sound."
