Matt Haig is a treasure.
Shopping is hell and kindness is therapeutic – what I learned from being depressed at Christmas In his 20s, Matt Haig’s depression was so crippling that a Christmas run to Morrisons caused a panic attack. Sixteen years on, he explains how learning to live with the holiday has been key to his recovery
In my talks on burnout and recovery, just over the last 6 months, I have met public servants who:
- are temporarily homeless and terrified anyone will find out
-want to help their first responder friends, and teacher friends and family with their burnout symptoms and recovery
- have had family deaths and they or their spouse are going through PTSD
- stand up and share their stories of suicidal tendencies, reporting their mental illness and being abused afterwards
- stand up and share their stories of psychosis and depression and bipolar disorder to offer help and support to their colleagues
- want to affect change in their sphere of influence
- have a mixed level of appreciation for country music
- find me hilarious
This is so inspiring I can't explain. I am exhausted after these sessions but mostly I'm inspired to continue doing these sessions as often as I can.
I can help. I have a sliding scale for fees. Email or message anytime.
