Annonce : journée « Arcade Amiga » le 11 juin au labo de l’UdeM (ouverte à tous et gratuite) + fin de l’inscription pour l’école d’été ReAnimate (30 avril)

Qu’est-ce que Schwarzy a en commun avec les cultures punk et q***r ? Les candy ravers avec le pinball, ou encore la conscience écologique de Dune? La musique métal avec les Lemmings?

Tout ce beau monde pourra se côtoyer le 11 juin prochain au laboratoire de jeu vidéo de l’UdeM, transformé en arcade Amiga par Francis Lavigne et moi-même à l’occasion de l’école d’été ReAnimate!

En collaboration avec le symposium sur l’histoire du jeu, l’arcade sera accessible à tout le monde gratuitement en après-midi. Vous pourrez également assister à trois conférences gratuites (en anglais) au local B-3325 du pavillon Jean-Brillant.

À 11h AM, je présenterai la quinzaine de jeux choisis dans une mise en contexte intitulé « Speedrunning the Amiga legacy : 6605 games (and counting) ». Inspiré par les projets réalisés par les communautés de fans (qui nous permettent d’avoir un aperçu de milliers de jeux oubliés trop rapidement), j’ai voulu réunir le plus de jeux possibles pour cette activité. À travers cet assemblage, les jeux entrent en dialogue, ils s’éclairent mutuellement.

En après-midi, Frédérick Maheux et Charlotte Courtois nous présenteront leurs démarches créatives inspirées par le jeu rétro.

Announcing "Arcade Amiga", June 11 at the UdeM lab (free and open to everyone) + end of registration for the ReAnimate summer school (April 30).

What does Schwarzy have in common with punk and q***r cultures? Candy ravers with pinball, or the ecological conscience of Dune? Metal music with Lemmings?

On June 11, Francis Lavigne and I will be transforming the UdeM video game lab into an Amiga arcade for the ReAnimate summer school!

In collaboration with the Game history symposium, the arcade will be open to everyone free of charge in the afternoon. You'll also be able to attend three presentations (in English) in room B-3325 (Jean-Brillant pavilion).

At 11 AM, I'll provide some context for the selected games chosen in a presentation entitled "Speedrunning the Amiga legacy: 6605 games (and counting)". Inspired by the projects carried out by fan communities (which allow us to get a quick glimpse of thousands of forgotten games), I wanted to assemble as many games as possible in the lab. Through this assemblage, the games enter into a dialogue, shedding light on each other.

In the afternoon, Frédérick Maheux and Charlotte Courtois will present their creative approaches inspired by retro gaming.
