MacGregor Records holds a mirror to the business side of art until it turns grotesque.

Behind the fictional billionaire executive and label mythology, there’s still a real person trying to say something honest.

It’s satire about image, branding, ego, and how commerce shapes creativity.

The music itself is real.

Reminded lately of Michael Jackson and his legacy, a cultural symbol where precision choreography, spectacle, and sensitivity all existed side by side: the scale, the performance, the man in the mirror, and underneath it all, something fragile and human.

The press often didn’t treat him as a normal artist. He was framed in extremes.

Over time, the public image became something like a constructed figure: the glove, the moonwalk, the accusations etc. When image becomes so amplified that it starts behaving like its own fictional world, it becomes a self-sustaining narrative shaped more by audience perception than lived reality.

As for MacGregor Records, the exaggeration of Mr. Mac is the mask. The intent underneath is still sincerity. By pushing “label boss logic” having different projects under this umbrella of satire (decisions by mood, consumption, vanity, neglect), it reveals how arbitrary and performative real systems can feel.

The joke only works because it mirrors something real, just exaggerated.
