Cult of AnarchKey has produced a dozen shows at the venue known as Thrash Can (FKA La Biu, TraXide, and a few other names before my time.)

I want to take this time to express gratitude for the space itself, the people who have worked/ performed in it, and the people who frequented it. No, it wasnt a perfect place and wherever people gather there will always be beef or drama. That is true of any gathering of people. But a part of this is what made it special. It wasn't designed to be a perfect place, and in doing so it allowed us to authenticly express ourselves. Be honest with what we think and how we go about things to find others like us.

As a Q***r PoC who navigates a lot of different places, I will say that Thrash Can was one of the places I felt most welcome. Not everyone is like me, but that is also part of the point. I want to see a diverse culture of people gathered around fighting the corruption of a mono culture. Among all of us, we are different in our taste, aesthetic, philosophy, but united in being the outlaws of where we were before. We think differently, and are able to acknowledge it.

I know there will be other places in the future for us, as a culture is its people not just its places. Still, we will mourn the loss of a great place we're we were able to meet. A crossroads of our cultures.

RIP Thrash Can. ACAB.
Take care,
Tenebrae
