Training night at TCGSAR.

Last night our members took part in tabletop scenarios focused on search assignments and team briefings. Operations briefed our Field Team Leaders, who then developed and delivered assignment briefings to their field teams, just as they would during a real search.

The scenarios allowed members to practice operational planning, search tactics, communications, resource management, and documentation in a realistic learning environment.

Every training night helps ensure our members are ready to respond safely, effectively,

TCGSAR is on site today at MEC Moncton for their Basecamp Day.

From 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, our members will be outside with our Command Post, meeting members of the local outdoor community, demonstrating the equipment we use during search operations, and recruiting new volunteers interested in making a difference.

Despite the mixed weather and rain this Saturday, our newer members were out in the field gaining hands-on experience with search tactics while being guided by our Field Team Leader Candidate program.

This exercise built on two previous training events for our Field Team Leader candidates and classroom sessions completed by our newer members, giving everyone the opportunity to put their skills into practice.

It's always great when our instructors can bring together experienced field leaders, Field Team Leaders in training, and our newest members in the same exercise, creating learning opportunities at every level of the team.

Congratulations to our Field Team Leader candidates as they move closer to being ready to lead teams on their own, and thank you to all of our members who continue to volunteer their time. Your dedication helps ensure we are not only ready to respond, but as prepared as possible when called upon.

Yesterday, our team took to Silver Lake Sackville with a larger group of members to get valuable hands on time with our boats and marine operations capabilities.

Members had the opportunity to practice boarding operations, launching drones directly from our boats, and utilizing our AquaEye with a diver and floating members in the water. Training also included man overboard and body recovery scenarios, extricating members from the small islands around Silver Lake, and simulating the deployment of search teams to remote areas only accessible, or more easily reached, by boat.

This type of realistic training ensures our members continue building the skills and interoperability needed to support search and rescue operations across New Brunswick.

TCGSAR is proud to be able to bring multiple boats and specialized resources to bear when activated by RCMP or EMO.
