Here are some from a recent test flight shared by El Instituto Geológico y Minero de España ( ) during equipment installation and training in Madrid.

Following a successful training course, we’re excited to see their new system heading into the field for upcoming geophysical investigations.

Thank you to the IGME team for sharing these photos with us.

A recent industry overview on quantum sensing highlighted the growing role of advanced magnetic sensing technologies in geophysics, exploration, environmental monitoring, and Earth science applications.

From UAV surveys to observatory monitoring, GEM Systems magnetometers have supported high-resolution magnetic data acquisition for decades.

As the article notes, GEM Systems' optically pumped magnetometers are "the most commercially mature" quantum sensor technology, and enable "high-precision measurements in real-world environments."

📡 Our -based VLF-EM System enables airborne VLF measurements for conductivity and structural mapping applications.

The system utilizes lightweight orthogonal air-core coils to measure both in-phase and quadrature components of the electromagnetic field while simultaneously receiving signals from multiple VLF transmitters. This configuration supports improved signal characterization and reduced acquisition noise during UAV surveys.

Applications include:

🔹 Conductivity and resistivity mapping
🔹 Geological and structural interpretation
🔹 Groundwater investigations
🔹 Environmental and engineering geophysics
🔹 Subsurface infrastructure detection

By integrating VLF-EM acquisition with drone deployment, the system supports efficient data collection across complex or inaccessible terrain while maintaining high spatial resolution.
