Understanding Your Fire Risks:
To choose the right fire extinguisher, assess the specific fire risks in your commercial property. Four primary fire classes dictate the extinguisher type:
Class A Fires: Require cooling and suppression.
Class B Fires: Need oxygen elimination and flame smothering.
Class C Fires: Involve electrical equipment and require non-conductive extinguishers.
Class K Fires: Kitchen fires with high-temperature extinguisher design.
Choosing the Right Fire Extinguisher Type: After assessing fire risks, select the appropriate fire extinguisher type:
Water-Based: For Class A fires, not suitable for electrical (Class C) or grease fires (Class K).
Dry Chemical: Effective against Class A and Class B fires, leaves residue.
CO2 (Carbon Dioxide): Suitable for Class B and Class C fires, non-conductive, leaves no residue.
Wet Chemical: Designed for Class K fires, like kitchen grease fires.
Clean Agent: For Class B and Class C fires, leaves no residue, ideal for sensitive electronics.
