LD Violin Studio

continued to study violin and learned viola with Noel Laporte, former Concertmaster of the Regina Symphony Orchestra, in Regina, Saskatchewan, where she played section viola and violin with the Regina Symphony Orchestra and studied violin in the Associate of Arts Degree Program at Ambrose University College. She obtained her Bachelor of Music in Violin from the University of Victoria in 2002, studying with the Lafayette String Quartet and Nancy DiNovo. During that time, Leanne also played for the Prince George Symphony Orchestra, the Kamloops Symphony Orchestra and the Vancouver Island Symphony Orchestra. After graduation, Leanne played Principal Second Violin, First Violin, and Principal Viola for the Prince George Symphony Orchestra as a professional core member, while also teaching Suzuki and Royal Conservatory of Music violin and viola at the Prince George Conservatory of Music, and, was also the violist and second violinist for the Prince George Capriccio String Quartet and Principal Viola for the PGCM Sinfonia Orchestra. Leanne teaches the Suzuki Method, Royal Conservatory of Music, Traditional, and Fiddle style violin lessons (private and group, as well as technique classes) and has taught at the Vancouver Academy of Music, Douglas College, various other local music schools and, currently, teaches home studio lessons. Her students perform in two recitals per year, train for RCM examinations, and also compete in both the Kiwanis and Fraser Valley Kiwanis Music Festivals, with first place results. Currently Leanne teaches violin from her home based studio and plays regularly with the Chilliwack Symphony Orchestra as well as performs other gigs and plays with various orchestras throughout the Lower Mainland. Leanne lives in Maple Ridge along with her husband, Ryan, 6 year old daughter, Stella, 4 year old son Isaak the happiest Golden Retriever in history, Buffy, and a rescue cat named Molly that wonders where she landed!
