The argument that premature holiday decorating is disrespectful stems from people believing it to be dismissive of the sacrifice veterans make for their country, by overshadowing the holiday set aside to commemorate them.

Understandable..

I once had an older veteran say to me that he loved this time of year because of all the beautiful Christmas decorations that come out. He said with a huge smile, “the earlier the better because it’s only until the end of the year.” He said it reminded him of so many happy times with family and that honouring our veterans can be done respectfully and with love hand in hand. By coming together to remember, to keep memories alive, to reach out to those still with us to tell them thank you and we love them.

Christmas decorating comes from a place of love, excitement and passion for this time of year. It comes from needing that feeling that reminds you of family. A time that represents coming together, sharing, giving, and being grateful that we can have the time to come together at the end of another year. When it’s cold and chilling outside and we can make it just a little warmer with sparking lights and good company and missing those who are not with us.

Anyone dedicated to decorate early, I’m willing to bet has a heart big enough to also honour our vets on the 11th. And make effort to pause with the rest of us.

Do what you need to to feel aligned with your thoughts, beliefs and give yourself permission to hold onto those views or change them if something else calls to you.

I struggled with the shift because I too waited until December in the past but now I decorate early to honour that veteran who said he loved it and to honour the part of me who is opening up to love christmas more and more each year.

What ever you chose to do, is your choice to make. That’s the beauty of having this human experience together. If waiting makes you happy. Wait. If doing it early makes you happy. Do it early. If you change year to year, you have permission because you don’t need permission. 😉

Tomorrow evening is the Sneak Peak Call!

In 2017 a fellow trainer asked me if I wanted to help more people from an online platform and I said YES!! Back then we didn't do sneak peaks or Info calls so I just jumped into the training and started to figure it out.
