This has been circulating on social media lately and people are understandably upset about it. We would like to say that we need to remember that the police are not the ones to blame. The real issue lies with local and provincial governments that continue to ignore the underlying problems facing our cities.

As responsible vehicle owners, we understand the importance of making thoughtful choices and being considerate of our neighbours. However, seizing what is often a person’s second most valuable possession simply to satisfy political pressure is an unfair overreach that threatens personal freedoms.

If safety is truly the concern, then what about the millions of other vehicles on the road? Will these same standards and enforcement measures be applied equally to every citizen? Targeting a specific group of drivers begins to resemble profiling rather than fair enforcement.

Car and truck enthusiasts invest in modified vehicles because they work hard, pay taxes, and contribute positively to society. Many members of the automotive community actively support charities and community events, raising donations for causes ranging from senior support programs to cancer research and treatment. We are not a burden on society — we are contributors to our communities and the economy.

We support reasonable safety standards and responsible rules of the road. What we do not support is being unfairly singled out and targeted.
