Now in its 21st year, Ron Benner’s 𝘈𝘴 𝘛𝘩𝘦 𝘊𝘳𝘰𝘸 𝘍𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘴 continues to flourish as its living elements bloom and evolve with the season.
Overlooking the Deshkan Ziibi \ Thames River, the work centres on an elliptical reflecting pool surrounded by plant life cultivated by Benner since 2005. The living installation supports waterfowl, amphibians, insects, and fish. Plants and photographs trace the 81.14th meridian from here in London to Florida and Cuba, linking sites of colonial monuments, military infrastructure, and industrial remnants.
Together, the work connects geography, agriculture, and food culture while reflecting on how we shape, and are shaped by, the natural world. 🌱

We’re gearing up for a lively Canada Day at the Museum! See you today between 12-4PM for free drop-in programming. 🧡
To mark the occasion, we’re sharing a timely work from our collection by legendary Canadian artist Joyce Wieland. 𝘖 𝘊𝘢𝘯𝘢𝘥𝘢 (1970) was created by the artist singing the then-new national anthem while pressing her bright red lips to a lithographic stone. The resulting print presents rows of lips in various stages of opening and closing, as if singing back to us. 👄
Responding to a moment of shifting national identity in the 1960s—when Canada adopted the maple leaf flag and officially recognized “O Canada” as its anthem—Wieland reworked these emerging symbols, strategically transforming and playfully distorting them, inviting viewers not to take identity for granted, but to reconsider and reimagine what nationhood can mean. 🍁

Class dismissed! Summer is officially here. 🏫 ➡️ ☀️
As we wrap up another school year, we’re grateful to the educators, students, volunteers, artists, and staff who helped make Museum London a place of discovery and learning.
Educational programming attendance exceeded 8,000 students from 61 schools during the 2025–26 school year. These visits explored art and regional history through interactive tours, hands-on workshops, and exchanges with curators and artists alike. From zine making and photography to embroidery, collage, and nature drawing, students explored their creativity and curiosity in myriad memorable ways.
We’re especially thankful to our education partner, , whose support helps make these experiences possible.
To all students, educators, and school staff: thank you for an incredible year. We wish you a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer break, and look forward to welcoming you back this fall for another season of creativity.
