Hermitt: Lloyd Albert -
A resident of Chatham, Lloyd Hermitt was called home to be with his Lord at 7:30pm on Thursday, July 31, 2025 from the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance, Chatham Campus, with his family at his side at the age of 84.
Born in Jamaica, Lloyd was the son of the late Roderick and Mabel (née MacDonald) Hermitt.
Beloved husband of 47 years to Katherine (née Gooden).
Loving father of Samuel Hermitt, Frederick Hermitt and Franklin Hermitt (Tammy).
Proud Grandpa to Alyssa, Aliyah, Angeline and the late Bryson Xavier James Hermitt (2012).
Dear brother to Bill, Shirley, Sheila, Madge, Yvonne and Joy. Predeceased by his sister Jean.
Brother-in-law to Agnes, Evadne, Garden, Gilbert and Winston. Predeceased by Evelyn, Margaret, Mary and Ivan.
Also missed by many nieces, nephews, friends and extended family.
Lloyd retired from Eaton Yale after over 33 years of service.
Lloyd became an ordained Pastor in 2013, preaching at Chatham Christian Centre and other churches around Chatham-Kent. He proudly distributed bibles for Gideon's throughout the years.
Lloyd was dedicated to his Lord, his family and his vegetable garden. He was blessed with a mind for history, recalling dates and events at will. Lloyd enjoyed ministering to everybody, including those walking by the home and to the many farm workers at the Dresden camp.
Family will receive friends at the Funeral Home, 459 St. Clair Street Chatham on Tuesday, August 5, 2025 from 2:00 - 4:00pm and 6:00 - 8:00pm. A Celebration of Lloyd's Life will be held at Praise Fellowship, 165 Park Ave E, Chatham on Wednesday, August 6, 2025 at 11:00am with Rev. Paul McPhail officiating. Interment to follow at Maple Leaf Cemetery.
