Sleeping beauty turquoise was mined exclusively at the Sleeping Beauty Mine in Globe, Arizona. The mine was named after the surrounding mountain range, which from a distance resembles a woman sleeping with her arms crossed.
The site halted all turquoise excavation in 2012 to focus solely on copper & gold. Because the mine is no longer producing new turquoise, The stone's value has risen significantly on the collector and jewelry markets.
