Standing Strong Against Rising Hate: Building Resilience Together

In recent months, communities across Canada have seen a troubling increase in hate incidents targeting 2SLGBTQIA+ people. From hateful rhetoric online to acts of intimidation and violence in our neighborhoods, this rise in hostility has shaken many who simply want to live authentically and safely.

At Why We March, we see these patterns not as isolated events, but as reminders of why our work — and our collective care — are more important than ever. Hate does not grow in silence; it grows when communities lack the tools and support to respond. That’s why we are choosing to act now, not later.

Taking a Proactive Approach

Our organization is taking concrete steps to strengthen community resilience. We have applied for funding to develop and deliver resiliency and anti-hate training, designed to support 2SLGBTQIA+ people, allies, and organizations across the region.

This initiative will include:
• Training for community leaders and on identifying and responding to hate incidents.
• Free workshops that foster inclusion, allyship, and emotional resilience.

These programs are being built with input from advocates, educators, and mental-health professionals who share our commitment to equity and safety.

Standing Together, Not Alone

Our goal isn’t just to react to hate — it’s to prevent it by building networks of understanding and action. Every person deserves to feel safe in their community, in their workplace, and on their streets. We know that resilience is not built by one person or one organization; it’s built by people standing side by side.

Through this initiative, Why We March continues our mission to connect, empower, and protect the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. We believe that education and preparedness are the foundation of lasting change — and that by investing in resilience today, we can prevent harm tomorrow.

Join Us

We invite community members, organizations, and allies to stand with us. Together, we can create a city — and a country — where hate has no home, and every person is free to live with pride, safety, and dignity.

Because together, we are .
Together, We March.
