Problem Solving: Solves a meaningful, real-life complex Problem
So the Problem was our school common learning area has very little open wall space, the two very tall ladders had been leaning up against the walls without any retainers. This failed multiple walk around inspections but the problem was not an easy fix. There were no hangers that would work in the space we had open.
Innovation & Creativity: Enhance a concept, Idea or Product
The students looked around at accessible areas of wall space to house the ladders that would give those in need the ability to retrieve them with safe access. Look at free available materials within the shop areas. Use a variety of measurement tools to calculate what would be needed to design a product. Prototype and evaluate making needed adjustments.

With a grade 12 Transportation technology class we had been talking about the Global Competencies and looking for a way to give a working example of the needs to problem solve.
We used a S.P.I.C.E. model of design to look at the issue: Situation, Possibilities, Investigation, Choose-Create and Evaluation.
