Fuel tanker fire leaves one dead, five injured in Gogrial West

One person was killed and five others seriously injured after a fuel tanker overturned and caught fire on Wednesday evening, April 8, in Gotdior–Riau Payam, Gogrial West County.

The incident happened when people attempted to transfer fuel from the overturned tanker to another tank using a generator, which sparked a fire at the scene.

A Somali driver died in the fire. Five others sustained severe injuries, including two South Sudanese nationals and three Somali nationals.

Gogrial West County Commissioner Victor Wek Koor Aru arrived in Gotdior, Panliet Payam, following the incident.

The injured are receiving treatment, with two admitted at Kuajok Hospital and three at MSF Mayen Abun.

Authorities said assessments are ongoing as investigations continue into the cause of the incident.
