🚨 PEQ IS BACK! 🚨

The Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) will officially reopen on July 2, 2026, offering a pathway to permanent residence for eligible foreign workers and international graduates.

📅 Intake Period:
July 2, 2026 – October 31, 2026

✅ No cap on applications during this first intake phase.
✅ Intended for International Graduates and Skilled Workers who met PEQ requirement before November 19, 2025
✅ Applicants must be residing in Quebec at the time of application.
✅ New application forms will be available starting June 17, 2026.

Who may qualify?

🎓 International Graduates
• Obtained an eligible Quebec diploma by November 19, 2025
• Diploma obtained within the last 3 years
• Meet French language requirements

👷 Skilled Workers
• Completed at least 2 years of skilled work experience in Quebec by November 19, 2025
• Employed in a qualifying position when applying
• Meet French language requirements

⚠️ This reopening is expected to generate a high volume of applications, and Quebec has already indicated that processing times may exceed the previous 6-month standard.

Recent data from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada shows that approximately 27% of inland spousal sponsorship applications submitted in 2025 (January–October) were refused due to incompleteness.

Out of 45,235 applications reviewed,

32,994 were accepted for processing
12,241 were rejected at the R10 completeness check

An application is only considered complete if it meets all requirements under Regulation 10 (R10) of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.

As of April 27, 2026, WP-EXT letters issued to foreign workers are now valid for 365 days (previously 180 days).

These letters are issued to individuals who apply for a new work permit before the expiry of their current permit and serve as proof of maintained status under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Regulations.

Maintained status allows foreign workers to continue working under the same conditions while their application is being processed, provided they remain in Canada.

WP-EXT letters may be used as proof of this status for employers or other authorities. However, they do not grant work authorization on their own.

Important: This change does not apply to Post-Graduation Work Permit (PGWP) applicants. Their WP-EXT letters remain valid for 180 days.

Every spring, Ottawa blooms with tulips but this tradition has a powerful history 🌷

In 1945, the Netherlands gifted 100,000 tulip bulbs to Canada as a thank-you for sheltering the Dutch royal family during World War II and helping liberate the country from N**i occupation.

During the war, Princess Juliana took refuge in Ottawa, where her daughter, Princess Margriet, was born. Canada even temporarily declared the hospital room as Dutch territory so the child would have Dutch citizenship.

Temporary residents who lose their worker or student status can now restore their status as visitors.

Before this change, they were required to leave Canada and re-enter in order to obtain visitor status.

Passport applications are subject to a 30 business day processing service standard.

If processing exceeds this timeframe, applicants may be eligible for a full refund of the passport or travel document application fee, provided the delay is not caused by incomplete documentation or additional verification requirements.

This measure ensures accountability when established processing standards are not met.

Applicants should ensure that all required documents are accurate and complete at the time of submission to avoid delays that may affect eligibility.
