Today BC officially recognized Trans Day of Visibility. 🏳️‍⚧️

I had the opportunity to speak with Theresa Barrera from Omni News Filipino about BC officially recognizing Trans Day of Visibility today.

We talked about trans healthcare, visibility, safety, and some of the realities trans people experience. A lot of the interview was edited down, but I’m grateful to have been part of the conversation.

Hearing that this day is now officially recognized gave me a sense of support. Even small steps like this can help people feel seen — and maybe a little safer.

I know there will always be people who question why a day like this is needed.

But the truth is, trans people have always existed. Long before colonial influence, many cultures recognized and respected gender diversity. In some ways, this isn’t something new — it’s modern Western society catching up.

We’re not here to harm anyone. We’re just here trying to exist, and to live honestly as ourselves.

I recognize it’s a privilege for me to live as a trans man and feel a level of safety. I hope we continue moving toward a world where trans women and all women can feel that same safety too.🩷
