Fun new little add on, mini sensory bags! These are something I have made as valentines and party favours for my own children’s lives and when someone asked about end of the year gifts recently I decided to share these with the world! Aside from party favours and gifts I have made and used these as an EA in classrooms using manipulative to tell a story and help with imagery. They can either come with a felt ‘setting’ for $5 a bag or $6-$7 for 1 or 2 mini playdoh to create a sensory scene! Let the creativity begin! 🐞🐬🐆.

Something spooky this way comes… This custom kit was so much to come up with that I had to make one for my boys as well! It’s getting us excited for Halloween as well as a nice inside break on rainy and cold days. It has brought lots of talk about what we want to be for Halloween and has us pulling out ALL the fall books! Some of my favourite Halloween books/ poems include ‘Spooky Wheels on the Bus’ by J. Elizabeth Mills and ‘5 little pumpkins’ . This kit will be a custom order available until October 31! 🎃👻🕷🦇🎃

One of our sensory bins that has been helping both boys in different ways is our Letter Sensory Kit. For my youngest he loves finding the letters and putting them in order and for my Kindergartener he is learning his French letters and this has put a fun spin on it! Some ways to play with the letter kits include hiding the letters in the rice and using the tongs to find them. With my boys they take turns hiding the letters for each other. We also write the letters on the piece of paper and match them helping with letter recognition and I also write words for my older son to match the letters to help his language and literacy. They also like finding the letters to their names! Once all the letters are out you can sing the ABCs to help your child put the letters in order. Another great way to extend this theme is by reading the book Chicka Chicka Boom Boom by Bill Martin Jr. What will happen to all the letters?!?!

We are all about reusing over here!♻️
One of my favourite ways to make our sensory kits feel new again is by switching up the base! It creates all new tactile senses for your child and new conversation about what they are seeing. How does it move? What does it feel like? Does it make different sounds?
We have tried rice, lentils, split peas, sensory sand, play dough, pasta and kinetic sand. All with the same pieces and all bring new excitement and play!
What have you tried? Are you brave enough to do mud (pudding) or cereal?!
