Grounding isn’t always about standing barefoot in the grass.

Sometimes, it’s found in another heartbeat.

Before a baby ever enters the world, they know one place better than anywhere else.

The rhythm of their mother’s heart.
The rise and fall of her breath.
The sound of her voice.
The gentle movement of her body.

Their first experience of feeling safe... of feeling regulated... of feeling grounded... happens in relationship.

And then they’re born.

While everything around them changes, one thing remains the same—that connection.

What’s often forgotten is that this relationship supports both mother and baby.

When a parent feels seen, supported, and cared for, they often have more capacity to co-regulate with their baby. And when a baby becomes more comfortable in their body, feeding more easily or settling more peacefully, parents often find themselves taking a deeper breath too.

It’s a conversation happening between two nervous systems.

One influencing the other.

Back and forth.

At Holm Collective, we believe that caring for mothers and babies together honours this connection. It recognizes that healing isn’t always about treating one person at a time—it can also be about supporting the relationship that already exists between them.

This month we’ve been talking about grounding through our feet, our movement, and our connection to the earth.

But grounding also begins with feeling safe.

Feeling supported.

Feeling held.

Sometimes the strongest foundation we can offer isn’t another strategy—it’s helping two people stay connected while they find their footing together.

Because when one nervous system finds steadiness, the other often follows.

For the past few months, we’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on something that feels really special to us.

✨ Our new website is finally here. ✨

At first glance, it may look like a fresh design, new photos, and easier navigation. But for us, it represents something much bigger.

When we created Holm Collective, our vision was never simply to open a clinic. We wanted to create a place where people could find support through every season of life—a place that values prevention as much as healing, education as much as treatment, and community as much as care.

As Holm has grown, so have the ways we’re able to support our community.

From Osteopathy and Nutrition to Community Nursing, Women’s Health, Red Light Therapy, Prenatal Care, Wellness Programs, and thoughtfully chosen products—we realized our website didn’t encompass everything that Holm had to offer.

So we started over.

We wanted our online home to feel just like walking through our front doors: calm, welcoming, easy to navigate, and filled with resources that help you feel informed and supported. 🌿

Whether you’re searching for answers, looking for a practitioner who truly listens, preparing for a new baby, navigating a health challenge, or simply wanting to invest in your long-term wellbeing, we hope you’ll find something that meets you where you are. 🤎

Because wellness isn’t about one appointment or one practitioner.
It’s about having a community that walks alongside you through life’s changes.

Thank you for growing with us, trusting us, and allowing Holm to continue evolving into something that serves our community even better.

We can’t wait for you to explore our new online home. 🤎

Many of us blame our knees...
our hips...
our back...

But what if the story actually begins at your feet?

Each foot contains:

26 bones
33 joints
More than 100 muscles, tendons and ligaments

Together they create the foundation that supports every step you take.

When the feet become stiff or weak, the rest of the body has to compensate.

Sometimes, improving hip pain starts with improving foot mobility.

At Holm Collective, we don’t just look at where it hurts—we ask why it’s happening in the first place.

Your foundation matters.

As we wrapped up June's conversation about reducing our toxic load, I found myself thinking about the word *load* in a different way.

When we hear "toxic load," we often think about the things we put *into* our bodies—our food, our environment, the products we use, our stress, our sleep. All of these pieces matter because every day our bodies are carrying something.

But then I started thinking about another kind of load...

The one we carry with every single step. 👣

Our feet quietly support us through thousands of steps each day. They adapt to uneven sidewalks, stand with us through long workdays, chase after little ones, explore trails, dance in kitchens, and carry us through seasons of life—often without much thought or gratitude.

Until they start asking for our attention.

At Holm Collective, we often say that health isn't about fixing one isolated problem. It's about understanding the whole person and recognizing how one part of the body influences another.

Reducing our toxic load is one way we create more capacity for healing.

Building stronger, more mobile feet is another way we reduce unnecessary load—on our knees, our hips, our backs, and even our nervous systems.

This month, we're shifting our focus to the foundation beneath us.

Because sometimes the path to feeling stronger, steadier, and more connected doesn't start with doing more.

Sometimes it starts by paying attention to what's been supporting us all along.

Here's to healthy feet, grounded bodies, and a foundation that helps us keep doing the things we love for years to come. 🤎

Over the past month we've explored the idea of toxic load.

Not as something to fear.

But as an invitation to become more intentional about what we carry.

We simplified.
We moved.
We rested.
We connected.

None of these actions were dramatic.

That was the point.

Health is rarely built through radical transformation.

More often, it's cultivated through small choices repeated consistently over time.

Much like a garden.

The seeds planted in June may not show their full harvest today.

But growth is happening.

Thank you for growing with us this month.

What is one change you'll carry forward into the rest of the year? 🌱

This month, we've been talking about reducing our toxic load—the chemicals, products, and environmental exposures that can impact our health.

But at Holm Collective, we believe our total load extends far beyond what we put on our bodies or bring into our homes.

Our bodies and nervous systems also carry the weight of stress, uncertainty, overwhelm, fragmented healthcare, and trying to navigate important health decisions on our own.

Whether you're trying to conceive, moving through pregnancy, adjusting to life postpartum, or navigating a new health concern, the mental and emotional burden can be significant.

This is where community nursing can make a meaningful difference.

Through United Community Wellness, Registered Nurse Layna Palechek provides personalized, relationship-based care that helps reduce the load by:

🤎 Creating space for questions and education
🤎 Helping you understand your options
🤎 Coordinating care and connecting you with resources
🤎 Advocating for your goals and preferences
🤎 Offering ongoing support through life's transitions

Sometimes reducing the load isn't about doing more.

It's about having someone walk alongside you so you don't have to carry it all yourself.

At Holm Collective, we believe wellness happens in community. 💛

When most people think of nursing care, they picture hospitals. 🏥

But nursing happens far beyond hospital walls. 🤎

Private community nursing is personalized healthcare provided by a Registered Nurse in the community 🤎 —in your home, in clinic, or virtually—focused on education, prevention, advocacy, support, and whole-person wellness.

In Alberta, much of our healthcare system is publicly funded, which means appointments can sometimes be brief and focused on immediate concerns.

Private nursing creates additional time and space for education, relationship-building, ongoing support, and collaborative care.

At Holm Collective, holistic nursing care is provided through United Community Wellness by Registered Nurse Layna Palechek, with a special focus on women, mothers, babies, and families.

Private nursing is not about replacing your healthcare team.

It’s about expanding your team. 🫶🏼

A healthy garden rarely grows alone. 🌿

Plants share nutrients through underground fungal networks. Trees support one another. Entire ecosystems work together.

Nature understands something we’ve forgotten:
Connection is essential.
Humans are no different.
When we talk about toxic load, we often focus on what enters the body.

But loneliness, isolation, and chronic stress can become burdens too.

The nervous system was never designed to carry life’s challenges alone.
A conversation with a friend.
A neighbour checking in.
A community event.
A shared laugh.
A familiar face who knows your story.

These moments aren’t luxuries.

They’re biology.

Connection helps signal safety to the nervous system, creating space for resilience, recovery, and healing.

One of our favourite things about Holm isn’t what happens in the treatment room.

It’s the community that grows around it.

Because health has always been something we cultivate together. 🌱

Taking time to connect, slow down, restore and enjoy the nice weather is a big priority for us, especially in the summer months.

Our team will be taking some time throughout July to do just that. 🤎

We will have limited availability for Osteopathy and Red Light Therapy services from June 25th to July 13th and our hours of operation will be variable for that time.

If you're looking for retail products, please reach out first so we can ensure access and availability. 🫶🏽

Thank you for your understanding. 🌿

A healthy garden has remarkable systems built into it. 🌿

Plants absorb nutrients.
Roots filter water.
Microorganisms break down waste.
Nature is constantly working to create balance.

The human body is no different. 🌿
Every day your body filters, processes, repairs, adapts, and eliminates. It’s designed to be resilient.

But even the most resilient systems can become overwhelmed when the burden becomes too great.

That’s what we mean by “toxic load.”

It’s not one product. 🌿
One meal.
Or one exposure.

It’s the accumulation of many small things over time. 🌿
The air we breathe.
The products we apply to our skin.
The cleaners we use in our homes.
The stress we carry.
The sleep we’re missing.

At Holm, we aren’t interested in perfection.

We’re interested in awareness. 🌿

Because every small choice that reduces unnecessary burden creates a little more capacity for healing, resilience, and wellbeing.

Small changes. Over time. Meaningful impact. 🤎
