One of my beloved projects from the past few years has been an extraordinary partnership with the Grief Mural, part of the The Resilience Project . A few years ago, I was invited to collaborate with Hummingbird Center for Hope to create a mural that captures grief from a multicultural youth perspective.
Marny and I designed a sensitive and beautiful workshop where we asked participants how they had experienced grief. They were incredibly generous in sharing their stories. Using that input, I designed a mural that the group and volunteers helped us paint. The conversations around understanding and surviving loss and trauma deeply nourished my soul and imagination.
A few days ago, we unveiled four murals we’ve created over the years in collaboration with four different agencies. I'm happy to share this journey with you, and I offer a heartfelt thank you to the Resilient Project and FACS Family and children Services of Waterloo Region for opening up this creative dialogue and having the vision to help build a visual grief tool for the community., and WRCF Waterloo Region Community Foundation for the financial support. Share if you can!
