Nutrition for Learning
Nutrition for Learning feeds local children and youth in 164 student nutrition programs in local schools in Waterloo Region from Elmira to Cambridge
Nutrition is the foundation; community is the result. π₯£β¨
True community happens when local schools support one another. Our team recently hosted a Yogurt Parfait social at Lincoln Heights, powered by the student leaders from Choose2Lead.
These high school volunteers prepped and served nutritious food while acting as mentors, reassuring younger students about the upcoming move to high school. Itβs amazing what can be achieved when we combine proper nutrition with student-led mentorship. ππͺ

πLet's revisit some highlights from 2025 together! πβ
β
December is not only a time to look forward to what's coming, but it's a time to look back and reflect on the past year.β

When we speak about "program scale-up" we're not always talking about just adding MORE food to the menu at schools. Often, our goal is to elevate the experience of school meals for the students, and this includes a variety of hot meal stations. Schools throughout the region are adding hot soup lunches, hot oatmeal breakfasts and other interactive food stations to their weekly offerings.
When students sit together and share a hot meal, it's more than just a "snack on the go". They are having a shared experience; they are making connections and building new friendships. They are learning what it's like to be in community. This is nourishment! Mind, body and community.
A meal isn't just a meal when it's shared with friends.
In 2026, Nutrition for Learning is focusing on elevating the school food experience of all students in the region!
And your donations made this possible. Your donations help provide nourishing meals every single day to the future leaders of our community, country and world! Thank for you making our work possible!β
