The members of the South Simcoe Police Service are deeply saddened by the tragic events in Montréal that claimed the life of a Service de police de la Ville de Montréal - SPVM officer, seriously injured another officer, and resulted in the loss of a civilian. Our thoughts are also with the Peel Regional Police officer who was recently shot in Mississauga, the two Royal Canadian Mounted Police officers seriously injured in Melville, Saskatchewan, and the families, friends, and colleagues of the Toronto Police Service and Ontario Provincial Police officers recently lost in the line of duty.

Our hearts are with our policing family across Canada as they navigate these difficult days of loss, injury, and healing.

These heartbreaking incidents are a sobering reminder of the risks police officers face every day while serving and protecting their communities. Behind every badge is a person, a family, and loved ones whose lives are forever changed when tragedy strikes.

On behalf of the South Simcoe Police Service, we extend our deepest condolences to the families, friends, colleagues, and communities grieving these losses. We honour the life, service, and sacrifice of the fallen officer, whose dedication will not be forgotten, and we wish strength, healing, and a full recovery to those who have been injured.

We stand united with our policing partners across the country during this difficult time. We honour the courage, commitment, and sacrifice of all those who serve and continue to put themselves in harm's way to protect our communities and ensure public safety.

South Simcoe Police Service officers and members are regularly out in our communities, engaging with residents, business owners, community partners, and visitors. These interactions provide valuable opportunities to learn about the issues, concerns, and priorities that matter most to our community members.

Being visible and accessible helps strengthen trust, encourages meaningful conversations, and keeps us connected to the people we serve. Whether attending local events, visiting businesses, or simply stopping to chat, these interactions are an important part of community policing.

If you see us out in the community, please stop and say hello - we always appreciate the opportunity to hear from you.
