The District of Hope Fire Department provides Fire Suppression and Prevention Services to the residents and visitors of the District of Hope and surrounding area.
🔥Campfires Permitted Again in the District of Hope
In coordination with the BC Wildfire Service and the Coastal Fire Centre, Category 1 campfires will be permitted again within the District of Hope.
Current and forecasted conditions have improved since the initial prohibition earlier this May. Cooler temperatures, higher humidity, and a reduced wildfire hazard across the region have allowed the Coastal Fire Centre to lift the Category 1 campfire ban effective Friday, May 15, 2026, at 12 p.m. (noon).
Even with lower fire danger, human‑caused wildfires remain possible—and entirely preventable. Please continue to use caution, follow regulations, and ensure every campfire is fully extinguished before leaving it unattended.
