A week of Mosaics in Haliburton! Micro cuts and sore hand from the nipping tools is the name of the game Day #1!!

This will be a short and sweet update but I figured it might be the best way to update you on what has been happening and also sincerely thank those of you who have been instrumental in my healing process.
Two weeks ago I begrudgingly made a trip to the ER after a weekend of flu-like symptoms. I began to realize something was wrong but i just couldn’t put my finger on it. After a long wait in the waiting room ( of which John tells me I was “THAT”patient) and then six long hours waiting for a CT scan, the doctors found the problem, I had three large blood clots near my liver, extending from my small intestine. Although I dont have much recollection John tells me things began to move very fast at that point.
They removed over two feet of my intestine that night and left the wound open to operate again 36 hours later to ensure all dead tissue was removed. I remained in a medically induced coma during this period.
I’m. SO thankful for my amazing husband and kids who didn’t leave my side and once I was extubated took most of my drug-fueled rants in stride and humour.
I sownt a ton of time with surgcal residents who were absolutely fascinated by my case as it shouldn’t have been possible for a clot to form where it did let alone 3. There is alot of genetic testing uunderway and will continue for some time.
9 days in the ICU. Days of recovery on the surgical floor and determination with my Physiotherapy let me finally come home to recoup fully. Those who know me well also know that I don’t “rest easy” very well but I’m sincerely trying.
