I have had the opportunity to witness the housing problem we have in this city of Hamilton Ontario first hand. Rental Prices have sky rocketed. Landlords have price gouged. Single bedrooms in flop houses with 15-20 people living in a home are going for 1200-1600$ + utilities in some areas for a bedroom! But social assistance has not risen to match. Ontario Works and ODSP are still around the 700-800$ a month and 900-1200$ for the later. Making it near impossible to find appropriate housing unless you get a call for Hamilton Housing (after spending the better part of a decade on a waiting list).

I have decided to try and level the playing field a little. We have a condo in the beautiful Main West area of Hamilton. Tucked in back from the road, and backing onto a protected green belt area. It’s safe, quiet, and very social. There are three buildings onsite all run by the same condo board.

The condo is on the 12th floor and shared with two other roommates. Two rooms are available.

I will give preference to those on social assistance, as that’s what I originally set out to provide.
