Taking a look back at one of our older projects. This is the original Seven Bays location on Gottigen which we were recruited to help bring from an empty shell to the the bustling gottigen main-stay it is celebrated as today. Particularly proud of how the main communal table was able encapsulate the history of the build of the space, you see those score marks are epoxy filled cut marks from the build of the climbing wall. It let the table tell the story of the place it was in.

This little addition turned into a game changer for the owner, giving them a larger open kitchen where once they had only a tiny little galley. Being able to preserve and reveal the sheathing boards from the existing houses shell made for a great time capsule of this houses heritage and pedigree.

When it comes to sheer utility you just cant beat full length shelves for storage. And having these units made from MDF meant it was a simple build with very smooth results.

Here is a blast from the past. Years back a client of ours called with extraordinary news. They had bought the Carleton in downtown Halifax. What was even more extraordinary, they wanted to entirely renovate the whole thing. They wanted to do it in 7 weeks. With one week in the middle them being open for a music festival.

In hindsight, that was entirely insane. But our team rolled up their sleeves and managed to pull some miracles out of thin air and we managed to have them open and functional with just minutes to spare. Talk about your management challenges!!

Closed cell spray foam, though a little more of an embodied carbon penalty than we would ideally prefer is sometimes the best solution for a demanding and constrained renovation project like this little addition. Don't let perfect be the enemy of done!

Sometimes you just want to put down the building science principles and just make something pretty. Our team was brought in by Amos Wood to help finish off the interior of this beautiful home designed by Solterre Design. We installed these gorgeous poplar boards to give the interior of this high performance home a gorgeous organic feel. Had to re-invent a couple wheels on this one, but it was well worth it!

Even though we tried our best to have this project be 100% penalized, there are just some architectural demands that require some more old-fashioned finishing. Here you can see our team had to install conventional on-site framing around this structural post in the corner that was needed to facilitate the window details.

Still, 90% of the rest of the walls were panelized. So there's that!

Look at this stoic and handsome addition to the Eastern Shore of Nova Scotia. The great team at knocked this one out of the park and gave its new owners a fabulous little architectural gem to call their own.

This one is from the archives. You are looking at a totally annialated flooring system that fell victim to a careless deck ledger attachement. Just a few small details overlooked can lead to catastrophic rot like this. As we always say, "water is smarter than you and will destroy everything you love".

This one is a little bit of a throwback, but check out how quickly this roof system is going in with pre-fab'd panels? Framing, sheathing, insulation, vapour management layer, WRB, all installed in the shop and ready for a quick onsite install. Took no time at all to get this garage addition installed and weather tight.
