Most fires caused by discarded smoking materials start outdoors, where there is no smoke alarm or early warning. 🚬🔥

A cigarette thrown into dry grass, mulch, planters or near buildings can smolder unnoticed before flames spread through decks, siding, soffits and attic spaces.

By the time fire is visible, it may already be spreading to neighboring homes and properties.
Dry conditions mean fires can start fast and spread even faster.

Dispose of smoking materials properly every time:
• Use a metal or ceramic container.
• Add sand or water.
• Never use planters, lawns or mulch beds as ashtrays.
• Never throw ci******es out vehicle windows.

Continuing our Camp F.I.R.E. recap. 🚒

Day 2 focused on Fireground Fundamentals, sponsored by the Municipal District of Greenview No. 16.

Working alongside instructors, campers moved through hands-on stations, practising rappelling and lowering, working through firefighter survival skills, and taking part in EMS training, including a CPR station and an ambulance tour. 🚑

Campers also learned forcible entry, hose advancement and search and rescue, with an overview of the physical fitness test to round out the day. 👩‍🚒

Thank you to our sponsors who make Camp F.I.R.E possible.

Lunch was provided by Firehouse Subs Canada. Coffee and snacks were provided by Safeway, Supplement World and Windsor Ford.
