DataNB research shows that while the number of registered social workers in New Brunswick has grown, maintaining a strong frontline workforce remains a challenge.

A recent blog from the University of New Brunswick explores what these findings mean—and how future social workers are being prepared to recognize and manage workplace stress before burnout takes hold.

"Recruitment matters, but it is not enough."

Flooding events can have lasting impacts far beyond physical damage.

Presented by Dr. Sandra Magalhaes, this population-based study used administrative data available at DataNB to examine mental health outcomes following flooding in New Brunswick. Findings showed increased mental health service use after flooding, particularly for mood and anxiety disorders, with children, youth and certain vulnerable groups at higher risk.

This research offers important insights into the broader impacts of major flooding events in NB.
