I came across the Juventus 2013 Soccer Club fundraising outside Freson Bros. Fresh Market in Southwest Edmonton. These kids are working hard to raise funds to compete in a tournament in Kelowna, BC!
Stop by, say hello, and show them your support — items are just $5. Let’s help send them to Kelowna! 🏆

Ward pihêsiwin residents,
I would like to share an update with you regarding the 170 Street construction south of Windermere Blvd.
First of all, I should share that my office was not notified about this construction, so I am as surprised and disappointed as you are, and I sincerely sympathize with the frustration of everyone impacted by this. Over the past few months, I have asked City Administration to please make me aware of any upcoming construction in my Ward so that I can update my constituents ahead of time. In this situation, this did not happen, so please know that I am actively voicing my disappointment with City Administration and I’m advocating to them to do better.
Here is what I have been able to learn about this project;
The existing infrastructure on 170 Street SW from Ambleside Link to Hiller Road is being upgraded to accommodate increased traffic demand and improve connectivity within the neighbourhood and surrounding areas. The main focus of this work is improving road surface quality, enhanced drainage to reduce flooding, create safer pedestrian crossings with upgraded sidewalks and accessibility ramps, better traffic flow management through optimized signal timing and intersection design, and hopefully decreased long-term maintenance costs.
This project is led and funded by Cantiro Communities on behalf of the City of Edmonton and will involve roadway reconstruction, along with the installation of modern infrastructure including improved drainage systems, sidewalks, and traffic control features. Construction Timeline
👉 The expected completion date for the entire project is Fall 2026, although it is anticipated that the portion of road between Anderson Way and Windermere Blvd will be reopened by the end of June 2026
👉 One lane of traffic will remain open in each direction on 170 Street SW throughout the construction period
Upcoming 2026 Work
👉 Shared-Use Path Completion: Finalizing the path on the east side of 170 Street, stretching from Anderson Way to Ambleside Link
👉 Northbound Lane Upgrades: Roadwork continues on the northbound lanes from Hiller Road to old Ellerslie Road
👉 Intersection Modernization: Upgrades to both northbound and southbound intersections at Hiller Road and 170 Street
👉 Keswick Gate to 28 Ave / Rabbit Hill Rd: 2 southbound lanes will be constructed, this work will be starting in May and is anticipated to be finished in the Fall
👉 28 Ave to 36 Ave: 2 northbound lanes will be constructed, this work will also be starting in May and is anticipated to be finished in the Fall
I hope this information is helpful in clarifying what is happening at this location, and please rest assured that my office will be carefully monitoring this project to ensure work gets done as quickly as possible and that traffic impacts are kept to a minimum.
Thank you for taking the time to read this update, and please do not hesitate to contact me at [email protected] or 780 496 8130 should you have any further questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Mike Elliott

Our office is excited to be participating in the Civic Youth Fellowship program! We’re thrilled to welcome Kairan to our team through early July. During her time with us, she’ll be developing a mental health guide for newcomers and immigrants in our community.
If you see her out and about with our team, be sure to say hello! Today, we also had the opportunity to attend the State of the City Address as part of a team outing.

It’s National Police Week! Serving in policing for over 20 years was one of the greatest honours of my life. Thank you to all the officers, civilian members, and families who continue showing up every day for our communities. 🚔 🇨🇦

As both a former Edmonton police officer and current Edmonton city councillor, I support proactive, targeted policing efforts focused on chronic hotspots impacting community safety across Edmonton.
Residents deserve to feel safe using transit, walking downtown, visiting local businesses, and enjoying public spaces without ongoing disorder, violence, intimidation, or open drug activity.
Data-driven enforcement in high-problem areas is not about criminalizing poverty or addiction — it is about restoring public safety while continuing to advocate for the mental health, housing, and recovery supports many individuals also need.
