Ever wondered what it takes to run one of Canada’s largest cannabis growing operations? We spent four incredible days in Montreal capturing every step of Cannara Biotech’s process—from seed to final product.

Cannara had a clear vision for the vibe of this project, and we collaborated closely to bring it to life. From lighting and camera movements to the script and music selection, every detail was crafted to reflect their unique identity. Drawing inspiration from 90’s culture, we curated an old-school soundtrack that nods to the roots of cannabis culture.

We’re beyond excited to share our most ambitious project to date—partnering with Cannara Cannabis, one of Canada's largest cannabis growers, based in Montreal!

In this 90-second commercial, we’ve packed a lot of action, energy, and mood into every frame. From grand facility shots to dramatic close-ups, we captured it all.

Here’s how we brought this from concept to completion.

🎬 Pre-Production:
Before even touching a camera, we worked closely with the Cannara team discussing their goals and vision, while giving our own input into how to be effective at reaching an audience. Scripting, visual planning, and location scouting were key to crafting an experience that would leave a lasting impression.

🎥 Visuals + Vibe:
We opened with grand, moody shots of their impressive facility, using cinematic lighting to build anticipation. Even as the video picked up pace, the dramatic aesthetic remained, giving the entire piece an epic feel.

Probe Lens!
Our probe lens gave us some insane close-ups of the cannabis plants and even took us inside a test tube! Shoutout to Production Rentals for hooking us up with this amazing piece of gear! 👏

🔊 Sound Design:
This was where the magic happened. Every moment—even the fridge door, and v**e cartridge fill—had its own distinct sound. The audio design helped immerse viewers completely, syncing seamlessly with the visuals.

📹 Movement:
From gimbals to drones, we kept the video constantly in motion, ensuring it never lost momentum. This piece was designed to move fast and hit hard, and we couldn’t be happier with the result.

We’re excited to share this video of our collaboration with the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Extension! This project was all about creating a bright, inviting, and informative video that not only shares what they offer but makes you feel what it's like to be part of their community.

Here’s a quick breakdown of how we brought this vision to life:

Vibe & Feel: To keep things dynamic and engaging, we used a combination of gimbals and handheld shots, ensuring the video always feels organic and in motion. Big, wide shots were key to showcasing the scale of the facility and grabbing attention.

💡 Lighting: Bright, daylight-balanced studio lighting helped maintain that vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, while contrasting hair lights gave each scene added depth.

🎧 Audio: A blend of voiceover narration and real interviews allowed us to share vital information, while also capturing authentic voices and stories from those involved in the programs.

The final result? A visually captivating, informative video that truly reflects the spirit of the Faculty of Extension.

🎯 Client’s Vision: Sidekick Tool wanted an edgy, punchy, and gritty vibe that would resonate with serious athletes. Our goal was to bring their vision to life and add real value to their brand through impactful storytelling.

🎥 The Process: We filmed in a weightlifting gym after hours, which allowed us to fully control the environment. By turning off the gym’s lights, we recreated the scene using our own studio lighting, opting for hard backlighting and a large key fill light to craft a bold and intense atmosphere.

💥 The Final Cut: The video’s pace was designed to mirror the intensity of Brent’s workouts. We cut between various exercises at high speed, seamlessly integrating shots of the Sidekick Tool in action as Brent used it to soothe his muscles post-workout. The result is a video that not only highlights the effectiveness of the Sidekick Tool but also captures the raw energy and determination of a top-level athlete.

This project was a great example of how our creative direction and technical ex*****on can come together to exceed client expectations.
