Newcomer Centre

Yesterday, we were pleased to welcome The Honourable Eleanor Olszewski M.P., Minister responsible for Prairies Economic Development Canada, and her team to the Newcomer Centre.

Our Executive Director, Samuel Juru, and Laurie Hauer, Director of Programs and Services, provided a tour of our facility and shared how the Newcomer Centre supports newcomers in building successful lives through settlement, employment, language, and community programs.

The visit included meaningful conversations about workforce development, skilled trades, and the important role newcomers play in strengthening Alberta's economy. We also discussed opportunities to support Canada's growing workforce needs through partnerships, including initiatives like Team Canada Strong, and highlighted the Newcomer Centre's ability to connect newcomers with meaningful employment and training pathways.

We were also pleased to welcome Ranti George, Executive Director of the Afro-CaribbeanFoodbank, whose participation reinforced the importance of community partnerships in creating lasting opportunities for newcomers and diverse communities.
