Easeful.
Yes, we are on what feels like our 10th winter in the span of three months, however, when I look out at the blanket of fresh snow, I can’t help but feel a sense of ease. A small reminder to slow down, it’s not quite spring yet. And, that’s OK.
The snow is easeful.
As we entered the year of the horse for some reason my algorithm switched completely to posts about ‘DO DO DO’, take ACTION, move forward, and with speed.
Is there anyone else out there that read those posts and thought “ACTION?! I’m exhausted just from the last year of doing and figuring everything out.”
I have sat with this very thought and when I scan thru images of our projects and the calm environments we design, pondered, “is EASE not action too?”
Sure it’s quieter, less visible. Nevertheless, in my humble opinion, it’s still action and perhaps even just as difficult as doing. Much like creating warm, minimalist spaces. There’s less ‘decor’ and fuss, yet the details are just as intricate and if not more difficult to achieve.
And, the one phrase we often hear from our clients and their friends is “I can’t quite put my finger on it, but this room makes me feel at peace, it’s calming”.
I wonder if the same could be said for how someone creates ease in their life?

I suppose all it takes to ignite the fire to post again is to win an award!
HERE WE GO.
This week was FULL ON in all of the most wonderful ways. Stressful yes, but delightfully so since I was in the right frame of mind. Coming off an emotionally and mentally draining few months (thank you Joni and Petland), this week felt like the ‘switch’ I needed to finally walk 2026 as I initially intended to.
We had so many wins this week.
From closing the posting for our available positions and starting the interview process, to seeing progress on several of our construction sites, and finalizing furniture for our long term clients (I see you 2021 AND 2023), to trying something new with our conceptual phase (turned out to be very well received). Ashley crushed her equally long to-do list, we won a new (incredibly unique) project, and for the icing on top - took home a Western Living Award for Design 25 (even though all the aforementioned kept me from actually accepting the award in person).
So cheers friends to keep on keeping on, slowing down when needed, pursuing when feeling it, and all the little life’s pleasures in between.
Affogato for the win.
